The Mercedes Benz family now awaits the arrival of the newest member of its family. This new executive saloon car is set to make a debut in Detroit later this week. The car comes with a cool look that makes it the perfect model for 2016 and it comes with a new four-pot diesel engine.
Making its world premiere later this week at the Detroit auto show, the sleek Mercedes Benz E-class comes designed to look like the cars in the Mercedes Benz C and S Classes. It sports identical lights with the cars in the C and S classes, its front grille and profile all have the usual family look.
With Audi and BMW doing well by adhering to the family look principle, Mercedes Benz may have seen the profits other companies have amassed when they have a family look, making the family look a formula for success.
The 2016 Mercedes Benz E-class was previewed last month, and when the interiors were shown at the 2016 consumer electronics show, many customers couldn’t help but conclude that this car comes with the same interior designs we have seen on the others in its class. Even though the bigger S-class and the new E-class have similar instrument panels, the new instrument panel found in the E-class is digital and it gives the driver the opportunity to personalize the settings as much as desired. The car was also said to be having a similar cabin to the C-class and it comes with some updated amenities.
The car also sports some new and updated technical specs like the driver-assist technology that was taken from the S-class and updated to fit into the E-class. The car is now 4,923mm long, about 43mm longer than before, the wheelbase has gone to 2,939mm, giving it a large cabin that challenges the cabin in the Audi A6, Jaguar XF, BMW 5-Series And Lexus Gs.
The car comes with four-cylinder petrol and diesel engines, the oil-burner has now been upgraded to 2.0-liters, the car produces 400Nm of torque and the M274 petrol head can generate 300Nm of torque. The car’s transmission has now been clocked at nine-speed automatic, an improvement from the seven-speed automatic on older versions.
This new car comes with a plug-in hybrid of the 2.0-liter petrol four-cylinder engine in the hood of the E350e. The car also packs a combined power rating of 279HP and CO2 emissions of 49g/km, blowing the C-class aside by a very large margin.
Although the company is yet to announce some of the remaining specs of the Mercedes-Benz E-class, leaks have shown that the car will be having performance variants of E450 AMG sport with 3.0-liter twin-turbo v6 and E63 Mercedes-AMG; while each of them will be coming with a 4.0 liter bi-turbo v8.
We have seen some of the specs we are expecting on this car, we just have to wait and see some of the specs and features we are yet to know about. The company has done really well in keeping its cards close to its chest, but this week, we will get to see what’s on board.
