Months of speculations have finally ended with the release of the Xiaomi Redmi 3 device. Xiaomi announced its Redmi 3 Smartphone today amid lots of fanfare. The device which comes with a sleek 5-inch display will have a retail price of $107.
The company has been known to sell impressive devices at disruptive prices, and that’s a major reason Apple isn’t always comfortable whenever Xiaomi releases any new device because it makes it a real challenge for people in the lower and middle class to change to iPhone. This all-metal device comes exactly six months after the plastic Redmi 2 was released and it sports a battery improvement from 2,200mAh to 4,100mAh.
Giant tech company, Xiaomi, has been compared to Apple on a number of occasions, and looking at the Xiaomi Redmi 3 carefully, we could see that some of its designs were borrowed from the iPhone 6, and if Apple sees that Xiaomi plans entering the US market, it may not let the similarities in designs slide as Apple is known for taking any company who makes something similar to its products to court in a bid to protect its market share.
Xiaomi is one of the few Chinese companies that have really been able to make a mark for themselves in the international Smartphone market; from prices to the specs, Xiaomi has made it pretty easy to make a purchase of one of its Smartphones. Only time will tell if Xiaomi plans to make any other product in addition to its Smartphones, but for now, they are still enjoying the success that comes with hard work.
Xiaomi was able to sell 61 million units of its Smartphones in 2014 and it set an 80 million target for itself in 2015. The company hasn’t revealed its 2015 sales, and many feel it wasn’t able to hit its target because its attempt to grab a share of the Indian market failed.
Time as proved that India is a very important market for Xiaomi because Lenovo and Huawei are top competitors in China, and unless it looks for a juicy market, the competition may be too much because the US market may not be the best place to head to right now.
The Xiaomi Redmi 3 comes with a 720 pixels display and it comes powered by octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 616 processor. The device sports an improved 2GB RAM and an internal storage capacity of 16GB; the storage can be expanded with a microSD card of up to 128GB. The device comes with a 4,100mAh battery that gives you the desired usage length, it is 8.5mm thick and it weighs 144g, making it thicker and heavier than LG’s Nexus 5X.
The device also sports a 13MP rear camera that comes with an f/2.0 aperture, and it also comes with a 5MP front-facing camera. The device sports a dual-SIM feature that allows one slot to work as a SIM port and a microSD slot. The device runs on Xiaomi’s latest custom version of Android, the MIUI7.
On the back of the phone is a speaker grill, Mi logo and a diamond pattern that makes the Xiaomi Redmi 3 the twin to the iPhone 6. In addition to the designs, the Chinese tech company has been able to buy the heart of its users by making the phone come with designs that are similar to those of the iPad Mini.
