As the Mobile World Congress rounds up, we feel there is going to be a lot to reflect on, the devices released at this event were cool, and it also shows mobile makers some areas they should always work on as different mobile makers brought different devices with different concepts. This event always allows mobile phone makers get an insight into what their competitors have planned and how they could be knocked behind if they change or don’t change their strategies.
The Mi 5 comes as the new flagship Smartphone from the Chinese phone maker. Although it was launched back in China, the company made a press announcement in Barcelona at the Mobile World Congress, and it showed the audience some things they could be expecting to see on the just-launched device. The launch was live streamed to some major cities in the world; this includes Barcelona, New Delhi and New York.
If I would judge from what I saw and heard, this device sports some real technology breakthroughs as it is super fast and surprisingly light. It is powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 820 and it is coated with cool Zirconia Ceramic. The company stated that the Mi 5 would be coming in 3 three different variants of 4GB RAM and 128GB ROM, 3GB RAM and 32GB ROM, 3GB RAM and 64GB ROM. While speaking of colors, we heard that the Smartphone will be wearing three different colors, namely: white, gold and black.
This device comes with a 5.15-inches screen and it sports a fingerprint scanner on the front. The display is Full-HD, it has 600-nit brightness and it saves 17 percent more power when compared to other devices released by the phone maker.
The new device is compatible with voLTE and it comes with a 4G network, the download speed has been touted to be super fast as the company stated that the Smartphone can download a 1080p movie in just 30 seconds, but I guess that depends on the speed of your internet connection. The device will be the first Smartphone from Xiaomi to come with UFS 2.0 storage.
The Xiaomi Mi 5 sports a massive 16MP rear-facing camera with 4-axis OIS; this is an area I would agree that Xiaomi has brought a cool device, one that comes with improved specs and cool cameras. Xiaomi let me down for some seconds as it sports just 4MP front-facing camera, but the company has stated that the Smartphone’s front camera will be having a Wide-Angle Lens, so that means it could be great for long shots, low light shots and moving objects.
The 3000mAh battery we find on the Smartphone is great, and it supports NFC. You won’t be waiting for hours to get your Smartphone fully charged as it would be coming with Qualcomm’s Quick Charge 2.0 feature; so charge your phone for an hour, and you would get a 90 percent charge that will last you for longer hours.
We wouldn’t be through until we talk about its operating system. The device runs on Android 6.0, so you would be enjoying not just the fast Smartphone or the longer lasting device; you will also enjoy that powerful device. Let’s just wait and see if Xiaomi will live up to its name.
