Five of The World’s Largest Companies Come Together to Form Historic Alliance on Artificial Intelligence

If you think that these companies are competitors, thus have nothing in common, then you should be prepared for a rude awakening because they have a lot in common. Facebook. Amazon, Google, IBM and Microsoft; five of the world’s largest companies may have artificial intelligence as a common aim. These companies could have gone into it alone, but it seems they want to go into it together with many other tech companies.

As of today, it’s safe to assume that these companies have the keys to some of the largest databases on the planet, and the data’s value is rooted in its application to artificial intelligence, which makes it a very important currency.

These five companies came together today to launch a new partnership on artificial intelligence you can try here. The companies will be conducting research and promoting the best practices, so not only will they be able to work together, they will be able to come together once in a while to discuss the improvements that are being made in artificial intelligence.

The research will need money, and it’s clear that financing of the research will be handled by the five companies that make up the group, but it’s expected that the number increases so funding of the research will not be a problem.

In the future, smaller companies and non-corporate groups could decide to join the alliance, but a common problem with these types of groups is the unequal distribution of leadership and authority. The interesting news for smaller companies is that this organization has been structured in a way that all companies who join the alliance, small or great will have equal opportunities and equal leadership rights.

Apple, Twitter, and Intel are missing from the list, and that means that there are lots of tech companies out there that could still come into the fold. In fact, it’s said that Apple is enthusiastic about the project though it has fallen far behind its rivals in the development of artificial intelligence.

What do you think of this alliance? Do you think it can give a push to the development and monitoring of artificial intelligence?  Please feel free to share your comments.
