Instagram is really going after Snapchat, and as a way to knock Snapchat really hard before the year runs out, it’s bringing new updates to Instagram Story by releasing the perfect answer to Snapchat geofilters.
The newly launched features make it pretty easy to spice up your photos and videos with stickers that display some basic location names, time, weather and emoji. It also features seasonal graphics like Christmas trees, birthday cakes, Hanukkah menorahs and many others.
The photo sharing platform also comes with story saving for downloading your last 24- hours of updates in the audience viewer and unlimited text boxes for stories instead of just one story per image. The new updates also include a one-touch hands-free video recording option to attract performers who may need both hands to perform while recording a video.
The company promised to start rolling out the features starting yesterday, so you should be able to see the features on all new updates to your iOS and Android applications.
With these new features, Instagram just got a step closer to catching up with Snapchat as the gap between their creative tools just got smaller. The company hasn’t categorically stated if it plans to offer sponsored stickers as a revenue generator or just a platform where users can submit sticker designs. It only stated that “we are working on more creative tools that will launch over the coming months…to give our community more fun and versatile options.”
