This is the first Nokia branded android phone coming from the new owner and it looks like a cool bet. HMD Global has worked behind closed doors for many months in a bid to bring a device that will carry the legacy of Nokia-branded mobile phones. After Microsoft abandoned the venture last year, HMD Global started by releasing dumb phones, but this new release is far from dumb.
The bad news is that you wouldn’t be able to get this device if you stay anywhere except China, and we can’t really tell why the company made that move. At the announcement, the company simply gave a vague explanation, that China was a “strategically important market”.
The new Nokia 6 is an LTE Smartphone that runs Nougat out of the box. It sports a 5.5-inch HD screen, a 16MP rear-facing camera, and an 8MP front-facing camera. The Smartphone comes with Qualcomm Snapdragon 430 chipset and it is adorned with a 4GB RAM and 64GB ROM.
The Smartphone is expected to be marketed in partnership with internet retail giant JD.com, and the team believes that the Smartphone’s premium design is all it needs to win the market over.
