Intro
The wait will soon be over as the military will in a few months take delivery of new killer laser beams. These new crave by the military for laser beams weaponry will be supplied by weapon manufacturer, Lockheed Martin.
A successful test run has been done for a new weapon laser beam operating at 58 kilowatts power. A similar test run was done in 2014 with Boeing’s High Energy Laser Mobile Demonstrator (HEL MD) at 10 kilowatts to blow mortar from the sky. According to Lockheed, the new lasers beams will reach 60 kilowatts before the final handover.
Multiple individual lasers are merged to make the combined fiber laser which focuses into a single beam. The device size is big but it is made to fit into armored vehicles. Reports have it that in the Persian Gulf the Navy had once used a laser half the power on its ship. Such weaponry demands a big battery, hence it impractical for ground movement as the case may be. This design by Lockheed is more powerful and even lighter.
